Ah, but then we get into editor wars and hardware compatibility issues. Much 
better I think to provide a runnable appliance people can drop onto their 
already-existing OS, with DAV and/or samba and/or NFS to make it easy for them 
to get at the files for editing from their (presumably already set up the way 
they like it) own system.
