Nice!  

One suggestion: move the stuff in /root/system/links.mas to a Model module
and put @links in $c->stash.  If you do that, and include a comment in the
Model code that the data *could* have come from a database you'll get the
new user pointed in the right direction with all the pieces of the
MVC/Catalyst world.  

In the current version I'd be concerned that a new user would think he had
to stuff data into $site in order for Mason to process it.
