[Catalyst] Is it normal to have lots of trouble installing catalyst?

I'm not sure how helpful that is for someone not that familiar with
Perl or with someone that just want to get a catalyst application
running.

It would be great to find a simple solution.  Building native
packages for all the distributions seems like a lot of work keeping
them all up to date.  Plus, for application deployment, I think it's
sometimes better to use locally installed modules.

Pure perl modules could be packaged as a tarball and used on all
platforms, no?  Any guesses on how many binary extensions would be
required on top of that?

I'd love to be able to unpack a single tarball and have everything I need to
get started with Catalyst, even one that includes a sample
application.
