[Catalyst] Catalyst update issues

the funny(er) thing is that in installing on my linux vm today TT was the
one to give me headaches. Turned out to be down to a known bug in
Template::Timer, but took me a while to suss it.

Most of the time "cpan install" works well, but now and again something
needs to be fiddled with to get things to play nicely.

The basic issue behind all this is that knowing how to go into
.cpan/build/MyModule and try manual install from there is pretty much a
prerequisite skill for any serious perl work. It's not that hard, but it is
a bit daunting to a true newb. It's more a perl thing than a catalyst thing,
though.

Sorry to make the inevitable ROR comparison, but I don't recall having
needed to do any similar stuff when I decided to install and play with it.
On the other hand, there's nothing even closely remembering thebreadth and
depth fo CPAN iwth Ruby, and I suspectthe situation would be a bit similar
if there was.
