Pushing aside the MVC argument for a sec - I'd be prepared to bet  
that if you actually install your application, and/or run it under  
apache they'll both not work right.

Using relative paths to find stuff like this (and trusting implicit,  
undocumented behavior) is just going to shoot you down the line..
