I had similar problems bootstrapping my DBIC knowledge.  The 
documentation seems to assume familiarity with the source code.

It also mixes the simplest method names in with the most complex 
ones that people would more rarely use, in no obvious order.

FWIW it's tough to write your own docs.  I'm trying to find some 
time to contribute.  Bosses are evil though.
