I hereby propose:

To create a Blogging Iron Man competition officially sanctioned by the
Enlightened Perl Organisation.

That this competition will be run in collaboration with Dave Cross'
blogs.perl.org effort, and that posts on the status of the competition
and making any necessary announcements will happen there, linked from the
enlightenedperl.org website.

That the aim of each contestant will be to blog once per week about perl,
each entry to be tagged/categorised as iron man and to show perl in a
positive light. No restriction on length or complexity of posts will be
made.

"Once per week" in this competition shall be defined as: from the point at
which the contestant begins to compete, that by any day after that that is
N*7 days from the first day, the contestant shall have N entries posted as
part of the Iron Man contest.

If a contestant does not have N entries posted by N*7 days from their
joining of the contest, they are then ejected. There will, however, be no
obstacle to them signing up afresh as a new contestant.

That these entries must only be *posted* at the appropriate time and can have
been written beforehand provided they were not published to the author's
primary blog with an appropriate tag before the time of posting, and that
publishing posts at a steady rate should be encouraged but not required.

That the E.P.O will produce and host blog buttons for various times of
continual blogging according to the once per week rule - for example,
successfully producing two entries might allow the use of a "man of paper"
button - however the time lengths and exact nature of the buttons are to
be decided.

That the E.P.O will offer T-shirt forms of these buttons for sale through
print on demand T-shirt sites (examples of such would be cafepress and
spreadshirt but other equivalent sites might be used instead).

That the E.P.O will organise a "post of the month" competition, which will
allow nominations from the community but where the final decision will be
made by an E.P.O appointed judge or judges.

That "of the month" should permit as candidates all posts made within one
calendar month, and that the decision should be rendered within the first
full week of the following calendar month.

That each such winner will be provided with a T-shirt to be produced and
shipped by the E.P.O at no cost to the winnner.

To announce the competition with at least one full calendar month's lead time
before any contestant can commence participation, such that early joiners have
time to both practice and to stack up drafts in order to maintain their
posting rate in the face of unexpected interruptions from real life.
