Hi Devin,

I have bcc'd the directors core into this conversation so that:
EVERYONE IS ON THE SAME PAGE IN WHAT THEY SAY!
[The shouting emphasis is for the two directors you spoke to and not
aimed at you mate.]

Okay, to clarify, the term 'special membership' in regards to the
Organisation already has a meaning. It is a type of membership whereby
someone shows their support but does not have any rights. it is also a
whole way connected to the legal status of members, so let us not use
special membership as it will get confusing. Instead I propose we use
the term Exceptional Circumsatnces to Membership (we can shorten that to
EC Membership) when discussing this. I know it is a little pedantic, but
if we call it special membership any audit of decisions we make is going
to be problematical.

This does seem sane (I know you tried to grab me but we missed each
other on IRC), but we do encounter some issues from a legal standpoint.
Firstly I need to know that you volunteered to help the Organisation of
your own free will and that you approached us with an offer to help and
not the other way around. Secondly I need to know if you intend to
consider us rewarding you with an ordinary membership in lieu of you
providing help and whether you would withdraw your help if we refused.

Basically, if you volunteered to help us of your own free will then I
would consider asking the board that we use an executive decision (vote)
to grant you a release of your fees this year so that you can be listed
as an Ordinary Member, we would add the (EC) suffix to your membership.
This will allow you to be an active member of the organisation without
breaching the guidelines and rules set down in the Articles of
Association concerning rights of members and the rules regarding payment
of fees (and more importantly the lack of rights of Special Members).

(If everyone responding to this could hit reply-to-all if they need
Devin to see a response, if you just want your response to hit the
core-list then you know what to do :) )

Sorry that we have to take a slightly convoluted looking route, this is
only to preserve the rights of paying members and the organisations
principles (and it would be nice if we could also follow company law
since we're registered with it :) ).

At this point I have put the Ordinary Membership on hold while we sort
this out, so if I could hear from the directors soon we can move ahead
:P -Poke-

Thanks
