And the negative I got was: "...by company policy I need to be able to switch provider. it is hard to do that with Perl..." So I thought on bringing this here so we think on how to address that kind of negatives. One initial idea I had was creating a directory of Perl Development Service Providers... what do you think? daniel From cnehren at gmail.com Wed Jul 14 17:41:41 2010 From: cnehren at gmail.com (Chris Nehren) Date: Wed Jul 14 17:41:51 2010 Subject: [Epo-marketing] Perl Development Service Providers In-Reply-To: <1279128694.10372.26.camel@cajueiro> References: <1279128694.10372.26.camel@cajueiro> Message-ID: <236B036F-55BD-44FD-81D3-0D9C15FE1D84@gmail.com> On Jul 14, 2010, at 1:31 PM, Daniel Ruoso wrote: > Hi, > > I was talking to a client today about taking some of his larger projects > with Perl (he currently hires Perl only for small projects). Okay... I meant the companies that take outsourced software development projects, usually not owning a "product" on their own, or using a "product" as leverage to get new services. daniel From chris at prather.org Wed Jul 14 18:52:16 2010 From: chris at prather.org (Chris Prather) Date: Wed Jul 14 18:52:19 2010 Subject: [Epo-marketing] Perl Development Service Providers In-Reply-To: <1279130549.10372.34.camel@cajueiro> References: <1279128694.10372.26.camel@cajueiro> <236B036F-55BD-44FD-81D3-0D9C15FE1D84@gmail.com> <1279130549.10372.34.camel@cajueiro> Message-ID: On Wed, Jul 14, 2010 at 2:02 PM, Daniel Ruoso wrote: > Em Qua, 2010-07-14 ?s 13:41 -0400, Chris Nehren escreveu: >> What is a 'development service provider'? > > Okay... Being one of those companies. I started making a list of who else was roughly in the same market place. http://github.com/perigrin/perl-consultants On that list PlainBlack and Best Practical both have a product that they mainly support (WebGUI and RT respectively), but all are I believe (without having spoken to some/many of them) open to the idea of open development. -Chris From lestrrat at gmail.com Thu Jul 15 00:07:20 2010 From: lestrrat at gmail.com (Daisuke Maki) Date: Thu Jul 15 00:07:23 2010 Subject: [Epo-marketing] Perl Development Service Providers In-Reply-To: References: <1279128694.10372.26.camel@cajueiro> <236B036F-55BD-44FD-81D3-0D9C15FE1D84@gmail.com> <1279130549.10372.34.camel@cajueiro> Message-ID: I believe I can add a few more to that list, but can we make the list broken down by region/country? The companies in my list probably won't take int'l offers. --d 2010/7/15 Chris Prather : > On Wed, Jul 14, 2010 at 2:02 PM, Daniel Ruoso wrote: >> Em Qua, 2010-07-14 ?s 13:41 -0400, Chris Nehren escreveu: >>> What is a 'development service provider'? >> >> Okay...
