I second that.

For example I would find it usefull to have filters that create a class 
object from a form field, for example a DateTime object.

First of all this would require, that the object is overloaded to 
stringify into a printable form. But the real problem is, that if the 
date the user entered has an invalid format, no DateTime object would 
be created and the field would be empty on the next $result->as_xml().
