[Perl-org-patches] Very excited....

Hi,

I'm very excited about this and not in a pervey way!

Thanks for getting something happening mst.

Just to confirm, I'm hoping to not only review the content, but also the
design of the perl.org sites.

Once svn is sorted I'd like to suggest we (not sure who this is yet) look at
sites one at a time, so that we can maintain consistency, and also learn how
to work efficiently as we go. The other advantage of this is being able to
generate publicity for each site when it is overhauled.

For each of the perl.org sites I think there should be a couple of steps:

1) Review
- what's there?
- what's the goal of the site (just as a single sentence, maybe even tag
line, so there is a focus)?
- what can be removed? - less is more and all that

2) Design / HTML cleanup
- convert to modern HTML markup, classes etc

If we could end up with a css file and classes rule document that anyone
could follow to make a Perl site nice then that would be an added bonus
(this should not distract from getting on with it!) - see JJ's ideas on
this:
http://news.perlfoundation.org/2009/08/2009q3_grant_proposal_improve.html -
we hopefully we'll be able to merge into this a bit.

3) Content update
- this is the hardest bit!
- for me the navigation/sections needs to be clear and simple, to often
there is too much information squished into a single page and you get lost
because of it
- I'm not going into specifics as that wont' help at the moment.

4) PR
- announcing the update of each site as it is re-released, and making noise
about it

Might not be a great tag but I have a few links to interesting bits:

Anyway, just to say I'm looking forward to working with others on this.
