I object.  Subdomains make it easier to move the site elsewhere if you decide
you want your bit to be a dynamic application.  It's also easier for perl.org
to say "Sure you can be part of our ecosystem" by adding your-project.perl.org
without committing to hosting resouces.

I don't think proxying is a reasonable alternative.
