[Xml-compile] Missing space in response

I am getting a response from a service:

...
<responseMessage xmlns="...>REJECTED - Duplicate
Lead</responseMessage></env:Body></env:Envelope>

however when I access that with:

my $responseMessage = $result->{parameters}->{responseMessage};

I am getting:

REJECTED-DuplicateLead

This is with XML-Compile-0.84 and XML-Compile-SOAP-0.72.  Not sure if
current was ready for production use, so I have not yet installed it.
