[Xml-compile] Attribute named "type" causing problems?

But the "xlink.xsd" that is imported here says

  <attributeGroup name="simpleLink">
    <attribute name="type" type="string" fixed="simple" form="qualified" /> 

Maybe it's a modified version of the original "XLink" schema?!
