[Catalyst] Is it normal to have lots of trouble installing catalyst?

Does anyone have any thoughts about what those
troublemakers could be?  Right now it's seems to me
that dozens and dozens of modules are added to a base
install of perl 5.8.8 when you install Catalyst, but
that could just be my overreacting.
