I'd like to be picky on this point. I haven't engaged in the IRC
discussions, but I followed them. And I haven't really seen any
"naysayers" in the discussions at all. Most people had very good points on
why the benchmark is flawed and I see no reason to dismiss them. Even a
simple funded critique is a valuable contribution. And if one makes such a
"loud" public statement, it imho has to withstand or at least accept
certain critiques to it. Those people could also just have said to
themselves to ignore the issue because they think there are flaws.

Also, none of the naysayers said Catalyst was the reincarnation of speedy
gonzales. They just pointed out why they think the benchmark won't hold.
And imho we shouldn't discourage people from stating their opinion.

Just my 2 cents.
