I had a very similar experience.  Being relatively new to web 
development, I immersed myself into the mailing lists (Catalyst | DBIC | 
Moose).  Key to my success was writing some fairly simple code using 
just Moose, or just DBIC.  Now that I'm somewhat literate in Catalyst, I 
find myself looking for help with complex forms.
