1. The stuff on Subversion is not really on-topic, though not too
   distracting.

The point is, who are you trying to reach? Your intro won’t
help people who’ve not used Subversion before; it doesn’t
explain enough. People who have, on the other hand, are just
going to skip all that crud. So I would replace the entire
“copy-paste all of this unexplained stuff” section at the top
   with something like this:

For the purposes of this tutorial I will assume you have
set up a fresh repository as per
       http://svnbook.red-bean.com/nightly/en/svn.reposadmin.projects.html
and checked out the trunk, which shall be the current
       directory.

The Subversion book will be more help to people who’ve never
used a VCS before and you don’t have to crud up the tutorial.

2. What I found *really* silly is that just because you didn’t
manage to get the HTML formatted correctly, you have stuff in
there on how to fix the patches when copypasting. Just offer
the patches as downloadable files already.

3. There is nothing in there about request dispatch, which is
   really Catalyst’s job.

4. But showing how to set up such an unusual custom model is
a *good* idea for a tutorial.
