People, *PLEASE*, can we not reply to digests? It kills the
threading, making smarter mail clients useless for those of us
who use one. It also kills the threading in any web-based mailing
list archives, and due to useless subjects makes it much harder
to search them.

At least Robert had the courtesy to trim and reply properly here,
so rethreading things manually doesn’t leave a mess. Some people
don’t even do as much. (I’ve long wondered if it’s sane for
mailing list software to accept posts from addresses subscribed
to a digest.)

I’m deliberaterly sending this on-list instead of in private mail
because I’d like to avoid complaining to every offender
personally; I’d like to think this is an at least moderately
common complaint and not just me being curmudgeonly.
