What Perrin said is that Catalyst (and RoR and all the others)
are really just dispatchers, so if you wanted to benchmark them,
what else than dispatching would you benchmark?

You replied by saying a web framework is not just a dispatcher,
you choose it for lots of other related reasons. Well d’uh, but
that doesn’t have to anything to do with “if you were to
benchmark Catalyst, what functionality is it that Catalyst itself
provides that you would be excercising?”

Answer: the dispatcher.

Catalyst, Jifty, RoR, Camping, Django, Turbogears and all the
others are dispatchers with bits of glue for other components
thrown in. That’s all they are.

And that’s what Perrin said.
