Because people weren't maintaining it on the wiki so it all looked like a big mess?  :-)

Not that I disagree that the process could be better, but I think there were more than a dozen patches and additions sent pretty quickly after Robert and Leo put up the new site, so it doesn't seem like an insurmountable obstacle.

We have talked a little about how to make it easier though.   A web-form that generates a git patch or something maybe...
